What has our nation come to?

Tonight as I was flipping through the channels, I decided to stop on Fox News to see what important news they are covering. My thought was that they would be covering on up potential presidential candidates or on the war in the middle East. Turned out I was wrong on both counts, to my surprise and disgusted was that they were covering the trial on custody for Anna Nicole Smith's body and daughter. I remember the amount of news coverage for her death, and the coverage went on for 3 days! To be perfectly honest, I would have made the announcement on the day she died, had discussed about her death and her life for that day, and then move on to something (or anything) more important. From what I know of on Anna Nicole Smith is that she posed for Playboy, married an old man that was filthy rich, inherited his money after he died, got fat, got her own TV show that lasted a couple of seasons (that was a waste of time and money to be honest), lost some weight, and got drunk on the MTV Movie Awards. I mean wow, what a contributor to human kind! So after being disgusted and appalled by what Fox News was covering, I switched the channel over to CNN and they were covering the same freakin' thing! Come on people! There has to be better news or a topic to talk about than the death of Anna Nicole Smith! After being distuged and appalled again, I switched the channel over to MSNBC and to my relief they were talking about something else other than Anna Nicole Smith. For a moment they did talk about John McCain being a flip flopper on comments that he made in 2004 and 2006, but they also brought up the news on Brittany Spears shaving her head. Now I know that I don't normally watch news programs, but I should. And when I do watch the news, I should be watching something important that does and will effect me as a citizen and taxpayer (okay I'm not pay much taxes now, but I will one day). If I want to watch entertainment news, then I'll watch E! or Access Hollywood, but if I want to learn the important pressing matters in our nation and abroad then I should be able to find out on Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC. Tonight I am really dissapointed on what we are becoming if this keeps up.

Oh yeah, I recently watched Man of the Year starring Robin Williams, and in a way that movie has sparked my attention on the politics and media in our nation. I strongly recommend everyone to see this movie!
