Student Teaching
Well, I finally got word on my placement for student teaching. The process took majority of the semester, but I finally know where I will be this spring semester. I will be doing my student teaching at Hightower High School in Fort Bend ISD. I'm very glad that I got assigned to there because it's only at most 30 min. drive there. It wasn't until this past week that I was starting to think that I could end up at another school in the district that very well could have been at least an hour to drive to the school. But, I've been to Hightower before for some band competitions when I was in high school. Now I really don't know what the math program there is like, but talking with my mom Hightower is on a block schedule, which is different than what I grew up with. Fortunately from what I have experience with my the student interning this semester, the school's schedule that I'm at is similar to block scheduling but not quite. I say that because the way the school does their schedule is that the students would only take 5 courses a semester, and only a couple of the classes at most last for the full school year. As for the other classes, the courses cover their material in a 18 week semester that any other school would cover over the year. For example, looking at the schedule for Hightower's Algebra II, the material that the school that I'm observing at is covering material that Hightower won't get to until maybe 3 weeks into the spring semester.
Now that this has shown some light, I now have to see about helping my roommate find a potential candidate to take over my room. Talking with him though, sounds like that if we can't find someone, he'll manage paying some extra money and turn my room into something like a study (which then allows him to have a queen size bed to sleep on instead of a twin). Mentioning of beds, I am so going to enjoy sleeping on my queen size bed again.
I'll try to keep ya'll posted as things progress. Now I need to wrap up my studies for the evening so that I can get to bed.
